چکیده

This study aimed to assess the knowledge of nuclear medicine technologists (NMTs) in radiation emergency preparedness and response operations their willingness participate such operations. A survey was developed for this purpose distributed NMTs Saudi Arabia. Sixty participants responded with a rate 63.31%. Based on overall protection related response, can perform detection, population monitoring, patient decontamination, assist radiological dose assessments during emergencies. There were no significant differences use scintillation gamma camera ( P = 0.314), well counter 0.744), Geiger 0.935), thyroid probes 0.980), portable monitor 0.830), or multichannel analyzer 0.413) years experience. Approximately 44% respondents reported receiving training last 5 years. Respondents who significantly more familiar resources 0.031) willing detection monitoring event reactor accident 0.016), weapon detonation 0.002), dirty bomb 0.003). These findings indicate importance continuing education which increase respond accidents fill gaps NMTs’ familiarity resources.

Radiological emergency preparedness: a survey of nuclear medicine technologists in the United States.

UNLABELLED Because of the increasing risk of radiological emergencies, public health agencies and first-response organizations are working to increase their capability of responding. Nuclear medicine technologists (NMTs) have expertise in certain areas, such as radiation safety, radiobiology, decontamination, and the use of radiation detection and monitoring equipment, that could be useful duri...

Task-specific monitoring of nuclear medicine technologists' radiation exposure.

Many studies have demonstrated that the exposure of nuclear medicine technologists arises primarily from radioactive patients rather than from preparation of radiopharmaceuticals. However, in order to devise strategies to reduce staff exposure, it is necessary to identify the specific tasks within each procedure that result in the highest radiation doses. An ESM Eberline FH41B-10 radiation dose...

Radiation dose to the nuclear medicine nurses

Background: People who have been administrated radiopharmaceuticals could be a source of radiation to their relatives, medical nurses, and people who are in contact with them. The aim of this work was to estimate radiation dose received by nuclear medicine nurses. Materials and Methods: In this study, the dose rates at various distances of 5 – 100 cm from 70 patients, who were administered diag...
